John P. Dewey grew up in
Clyde,
Ohio and graduated from
Clyde
High School in 1965. He then
earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from
Muskingum College
in 1969. John attended The Ohio State University Law School and
graduated in 1972. After passing the bar, John came back to
Clyde
and joined the Dewey law with his Father, Thomas Dewey, Sr. and
Brother, Thomas F. Dewey, Jr., while being actively involved in the
community. He served as City Solicitor for the City of
Clyde
during 1975.
In 1975, John had the honor of being the
youngest attorney ever to be appointed judge for the Sandusky County
Court and has been sitting on the bench for 33 years. During his
time acting as the judge for the county court, John practiced law
and concentrated his efforts toward real estate law, domestic
relations, and decedent’s estates.
In 1977, John married his high school
sweetheart, Coni Mierke, who is a local artist, and they have two
children, son Dustin and daughter, Rachel.
In his spare time, John is active
in the Clyde Heritage League and served as a past president of the
Fremont Country Club and is an avid golfer. Recently, John P. Dewey
was elected Common Pleas Judge of Sandusky County and will be sworn
in on January 1st, 2009. As a result of being elected to
sit as judge, John will no longer be practicing law at Dewey and
Dewey, but will pass his caseload to his daughter, Rachel Jane
Dewey. |
